7 Ways to Build Self Confidence
Everyone should strive to take steps to increase self confidence. If you have poor self confidence it could contribute to poor mental health .
Below are seven simple techniques to boost your self confidence and improve your self esteem.
- Make goals at the beginning of the week. Decide what you want to accomplish. This will bring structure to your life and when you complete a goal you will feel great about yourself.
- Give yourself a make over. Sometimes just changing your hair or buy yourself a new outfit. Go to a store that does makeup makeovers.
Get rid of the past. If something keeps bothering you from the past write it down and then throw it away and let it go. We can't change the past, but we can focus on our future.
- Stop putting yourself down. This is a very destructive action we can change about ourselves. Build yourself up. Don't pick out negative things about yourself. Think positive!
- Remind yourself of the good things you have done in life. Reminding yourself of the good things will build your self confidence.
- Be aware of what you expose yourself to. Be careful of what you are watching on TV or what movies you watch, even watching the news can be too much. I limit myself to 30 minutes of news or CNN and rarely read a newspaper. It can really make you depressed.
- Surround yourself with positive people. If you have positive people in your life you will live a more positive life. If you allow negativity in, your outlook will turn negative.
