Anxiety Self Help
Using Positive Thinking

One kind of anxiety disorder is generalized anxiety disorder.
People feel stressed and worried about many things.
A lot of the time people even worry about the small things.
While others may have a anxiety panic attacks, which is a very sudden feeling of overwhelming anxiety. Sometimes you even feel like you are going to have a heart attack.
Another kind of anxiety is social anxiety disorder. People are worried they will do or say the wrong thing in public. They are concerned they will embarrass themselves.
Anxiety can cause physical symptoms, as well. such as sweaty hands or rapid heartbeat. Also, anxiety can limit your functioning level and make it hard to carry out daily duties.
Just by having positive thinking you can help yourself with the anxiety. Negative thoughts can cause you to worry even more.
If you are thinking negative about your situation, it will only make you worry all the more. Doing this will cause greater anxiety, too.
Cognitive behavorial therapy is a kind of therapy that helps you think in a more positive, healthy way. It helps you to change negative thoughts into positive ones. Sometimes the negative thoughts are called automatic or irrational thoughts.
If you are working with a mental health therapist or even if you are doing your own anxiety self help steps practice the following:
- Notice your "self talk". Many times people do not pay attention to what they tell themselves. If you talk negative to yourself you will start believing it and then begin to worry about it. Turn that around! If you start thinking negative, stop and find the positive in the situation.
- Take an honest look at your thoughts. Are they really true? When you take a true look at your thoughts, maybe you are ignoring something positive. Give it a real chance!
- Now is time to replace the negative thoughts with positive ones. I know it sounds hard, but if you really practice this it can work. With this step you can begin to change the way you feel.

It will take time to change your thinking, but it will come.
Also, surround yourself with positive people.
Also, try positive self affirmations. It is amazing how positive self talk can change your whole outlook!
For example, my side of the family is very negative, so I limit phone calls and visits. Because if I'm around them too long, I begin to think negative again.
You should come first, so be good to yourself!
