Dealing with Stress and Depression

Some types of stress is good for you. such as a deadline at work, planning a wedding or doing a report for school.

But if the stress does not subside it can lead to depression .

 

How Does Stress Affect Health

Too much stress can lead to elevated hormornes such as cortisol, the stress hormone and reduce the levels of serotonin and dopamine. When these and other neurotransmitters stop working it can affect your sleep, energy, appetite and sex drive.

Everyone has to face symptoms of stress of some kind at sometime in life. But if you do not feel a release of the stress it can lead to depression, especially if you are subceptable to depression. And chronic depression is considered a chronic stressor.

If the stress is too much for you to handle it can cause you to neglect typical lifestyle coping mechanizims. It could cause you to smoke, drink orneglect doing the healthy things we would normally do for ourselves.
