Exercise and Mental Health
Mental Health Benefits of Exercise
Exercise is one of the best medicines for mental health.
Not only does it help your endorphins, it frees your mind and helps clear your head. If also makes you feel good about yourself.
For the first time in our lives we are doing something for ourselves. Many times we put ourselves on the back burner and do for everyone else.
Make the decision now to do something just for you!
Workout Ideas
One of the best exercise for me was a walking workout. Not only is the fresh air good for you, you get to see the beauty of nature. Hearing the birds sing is so peaceful.

I found I clear my mind of the issues that were upsetting me.
If I was having a problem, sometimes I could work out the solution while being alone.
Also, if you have a dog take them with you. It can make the walk more enjoyable.
Exercise Improves Mental Health
Something new I am trying, is working out in a gym with a friend. Doing the exercise is healthy, but also it makes me feel good about myself . I am working to make myself healthier for me and my family.
It is also fun having a workout buddy! We spend about 15 to 20 minutes stretching and about 30 minutes working out on the machines. I figure I can take about 45 minutes to one hour out of the day for myself.
I live in Colorado, where it snows in the Winter a lot, so I tried exercise at home. I had purchased a 20 minute workout video. It worked for a little while, but I was not motivated to workout. I would keep putting it off to do later and later never came.
You may do better then me, so I encourage you to give it a try. Exercise DVD's are fairly inexpensive and easy to find in places like Walmart, Target or Kmart.

If you workout alone and it is not working for you, see if a friend or family member will workout with you.
If the person who encourages you the most lives too far away, try working out together in your separate homes.
You can call each other and discuss what you did. I have done this with my Mother and it worked out well.
I would encourage you to give daily exercise workouts a chance. Find the perfect workout routine for you! You will be able to see a difference not only in your body, but your mental outlook. It has always helped me and I think it will help you, too!
