Fighting Negative Feelings
Sometimes growing up you may have had people who said negative quotes to you and after them being repeated over a lifetime you begin believing them.
I was one of those people. I was negative externally and internally. I come from a very negative family. Even now if I spend too much time with them I catch myself being negative again. I did not realize I was this way until we moved out of state and I had a more positive enviroment.
Where I live now everyone strives to be happy and healthy. After about six months of living here I was put in a mental health hospital , but it changed my life!

I know with my adopted daughter she showed the affects of negative words. She was told so many negative things about herself that it has been hard to break her of the habit of being negative.
Someone would tell her she is pretty and she would tell them
"no, I'm ugly", but that is what she was told for 19 years. Now she has people calling her beautiful and she responds "thank you".
She brought with her a box of childhood photos, but everytime she would show us a picture, there was a negative story behind it. I told her if the pictures are sad or negative for her to just put them away and grow stronger. Then if she wanted to look at the pictures maybe she would remember a few happy times instead.
Another good way to beat negative thinking is to break the negative influence. Do not socialize with people who are negative. For me it was 15 years before I went to a family gathering and now I am strong enough to go to a family function and resist the negative vibes from my family.

The key to overcome negative thoughts is to do what is best for you. I know that staying away from family gatherings can be hard, but it is time to put yourself and your needs first.
We always put others first most of the time and we deserve to be first on the list, too! Just remember positive affirmations killing negative thinking can be the key to success!
