How to Deal with Stress

Is It A Blessing or Curse?

What is stress? Stress is anything that motivates you to act or run. Everyone has a belief about who we are and what we believe about ourselves.

Stress helps us mold our beliefs. Events that happen in our life, such as a job change, a death of a friend or loved one, money, debt, sickness, etc...

You choose how to handle stress
and how you will react. Will the stress be a blessing or a curse? Will you let it run your life?

I am the kind of person who sees the glass half full and not half empty. I try to see the positive in any situation. One of the biggest causes of stress and one of the hardest to deal with is work related stress.

I recently had a job change and instead of seeing that I have no extra money coming in, I see it as an opportunity to spend more time with my children and husband.

Yes, the extra money was nice, but my husband is still employed and has always been the "bread winner" anyway. But if I needed to work, I would have seen this as a chance to get a better job, or to continue my education. Also, I am able to put forth a stronger effort with the personal work I want to get accomplished.

Dealing with emotional stress is also very hard. When my Dad died in January 2006, I mourned the loss, but was happy he would no longer suffer the pain of cancer. I celebrate his life, not his death. That is how he would want it to be.

The key to coping with stress is to see it as being a blessing. Let the stress go.
